2008 WORKSHOP - MICHAEL ANDERSON

Michael Anderson, b. Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 1951, has
been an artist, illustrator & designer for over 30
years. Prior to establishing Michael Anderson Studio
in 1983 he was employed as a display designer & a
graphic artist. Collaboration with designers and
architects to develop their ideas for themed
environments and decorative arts in sketches, cad
drawings and digital illustrations is a specialty.
Recent professional experience includes completion of
a series of conceptual sketches for a series of
diverse projects and clients including the St. Louis
Science Center, the Biltmore Estate and Hoover Dam.
Architectural illustrations by Michael Anderson
have been published in books, magazines and numerous
ads, brochures and design presentations. His art is
included in The American Landscape, a 2008
calendar published by First Bank Corporation. Other
corporate clients and projects include Six Flags Theme
Parks, St. Louis Blues Hockey Club, Anheuser-
Busch, Inc. and St. Louis Cardinals. He is member of
the Gateway Gallery, an artist's cooperative in
Clayton, MO.


Michael states his "painting style is characterized by
thick strokes of tonal color applied with a palette
knife." His  works have been exhibited at Washington
University, St. Louis, The Texas Artists Museum, Port
Arthur, TX, the St. Louis Artists Guild and are
included in numerous personal collections as well as
the permanent collections of Monsanto, Citicorp and
the St. Louis Zoo. Awards include Dona Weder Abbott
Award for Artistic Achievement, 2007 and Gateway East
Artists Guild Annual Exhibition "Best of Show",  2004,
2005.   

Michael Anderson frequently paints on Missouri Plein
Air Painters Association outings and is a member of
the American Society of Architectural Illustrators,
St. Louis Creative Artisans Guild, Oil Painters of
America and the Gateway East Artists Guild. His studio
and residence are located in Belleville, IL.
